For the second consecutive year, the 11-a-side football team has won the Milan University Championship.
The final was played on neutral ground at the Bicocca Stadium against San Raffaele. It was a well-controlled and dominated match, but the deadlock was only broken in the 89th minute with a stunning goal by Piergiorgio Re, enough to secure the victory and retain the title.
This is another confirmation of the excellent work done by the staff and the team, as team manager Alfredo Carlone stated:
“Winning is never easy, but winning again is even harder. The compliments go to the coach and the players. To the coach, because taking over a title-winning team is a task full of challenges, both on and off the pitch; and to the players, because many of them gave more than what was expected of them on the field, showing great determination to win. I’m really happy because the drive of the younger players allowed the many ‘veterans’ abroad for study and work to reclaim the Milan title in their final year. It was truly a shared achievement.”
Coach Dmitrii Oshchepkov also expressed his satisfaction with the season:
“I’m very happy with the victory and with the attitude the players showed throughout the season. The beginning wasn’t easy, but we managed to turn it around. We went through a generational shift, and many players had to take on new roles, both on and off the pitch. I want to thank the players and the staff for their sacrifices. See you next season.”
A special thanks to the sponsor JEME and congratulations to the entire staff and team on this well-deserved achievement!
