The wonderful trip of our Bocconi Sport Team in Spain ended. Three of our teams had the opportunity to play in one of the most prestigious university competitions, the World InterUniversities Championship (WIUC). The competition saw the participation of over 3000 athletes from 64 different universities and 26 countries, giving all the students involved a wonderful experience.
For the occasion, our representative was formed by the teams of: women's futsal coached by Clara De Nicolò, men's basketball coached by Marco Moretti and men's 11-a-side football coached by Tommaso Costantini.
The balance of the competition was absolutely positive, they were three exciting days in which our athletes had the opportunity to play with many other teams and also had the opportunity to support each other.
In detail, the results were as follows:
- Women's futsal finished the tournament in fourth place out of 14 teams. After having passed the pool as first, in the semifinal, unfortunately, the team lost during the penalties against the team that at the end won the tournament;
- Basketball also finished the tournament in fourth place out of 27 teams. After getting through the pool as first, they lost in the semifinals against the defending champion team;
- 11-a-side football, after playing a good pool, collecting one win and two draws, ended its dreams in the round of 16, losing with a single goal of difference.
We return home from Barcelona with two fourth places, a lot of experience and a lot of joy in having faced this competition with the right spirit, aware that by continuing to work in this way we will always be able to achieve ever better results and bring the name of Bocconi Sport Team to the top also at international level.
