The Bocconi Swimming Team gathered on the island of Crete for a week-long retreat, from April 28 to May 3 2025, that combined high-intensity training with important moments shared with some of the best swimmers from other international universities.

The retreat proved to be a turning point in the season. “The team, almost entirely renewed from last year, showed great motivation,” said Head Coach Marco Bonassisa. “Despite the cold and rain, everyone completed every session at their best. This kind of training camp is essential to prepare for the long-course season starting in May.”

The experience offered the chance to grow both personally and as a team. The results spoke for themselves, in fact just days after returning, two team members secured qualifications for the Italian Championships: in Chianciano Terme in August Lodovico De Ferrari will compete in 50m freestyle and Matteo Rodella in 200m breaststroke. Also Giovanni Garetto will compete in 50m freestyle.

Team captain Paolo Ceriani summed it up: “We’ve just wrapped up an incredible week filled with sports challenges and lasting memories. I’m proud beyond words of what this team has become. Thank you to Bocconi Sport for making this possible – ad maiora!”

This retreat in Crete once again highlighted the resilience, ambition, and team spirit that define Bocconi Swimming, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the season.
