Last weekend, the Pelicans faced the finals for promotion to Interregional Serie B. They had a double chance, but the first game was enough to confirm the direct promotion in this category.
The challenge was against the Tuscans of San Vincenzo. It was an intense and fought game, around the middle the team took control of it, maintaining the lead until the end with the result of 81-76. Dario Cefarelli and Engin Atsür the absolute top scorers, with 24 and 18 points respectively and Dario has been also awarded MVP.
"There are really no words for what we managed to achieve together. It has been a long and difficult season. For all those involved, after last year’s final, we were the big favorites for the final victory despite having changed the backbone of our team, losing some fundamental elements for our group. We did not hide behind a finger: we have taken note of the situation and we have gradually become aware and confident in our means during the season, with "stops" (even abrupt) that are part of the path of growth of a young team like ours. I am sure that none of us will forget this promotion to Serie B, but I am even more certain that each one of us will keep forever the memories and bonds created together in these years!" says the captain Jacopo Ghezzi.
It is still time to celebrate, but the look is already at the future, as the coach and professor of our University, Carlo Favero, adds: "We have achieved an important result thanks to great teamwork, but the journey of our project is yet to be written."
