An intense weekend featuring two high-level matches and providing valuable insights ahead of the season kicking off on October 2nd. This sums up the trip to Rome undertaken by our women's basketball team from September 18th to 20th, an event designed to test the team through friendly matches against two of the best teams in Serie B.

The trip began on Friday, September 18th, with the journey to the Giulio Onesti Olympic Center, which served as an ideal base throughout the weekend for training, recovery, and optimal preparation for the upcoming games.

Saturday, September 19th, brought the first test against Luiss Roma, a Serie B side, in a match that has become a classic Italian university derby against our friends from the Roman university.

While the final score of 71–40 went to the home team, the match provided important takeaways.

Initially, the players struggled to adjust to the level of their opponents, facing a pace and intensity higher than what they were accustomed to. However, the team responded by progressively adapting to the challenges and staying determinedly in the game.

The second match took place on Sunday at 12:00 PM against Basket Roma, another Serie B team that came within a whisker of promotion to Serie A2 last season. Although the final result was a 59–45 victory for the “Giallorosse”, the game confirmed and reinforced the positive impressions from the previous day.

Two different matches, yet united by a fundamental element: attitude.

On the court, the girls displayed passion, grit, and a competitive spirit, giving it their all despite the friendly nature of the matches. Indeed, their ability to progressively raise their level of play against higher-division teams was one of the most interesting takeaways from the trip.

These two matchups provided a concrete measure of the gap between Serie C and Serie B, but more importantly, they turned that gap into a source of motivation for future work: higher tempos, greater intensity, and different game situations offered the squad a valuable opportunity to identify the areas that need continued work.

Ultimately, the weekend’s success cannot be measured solely by the two results. The trip to Rome was a highly valuable technical and developmental experience, testing the team’s basketball skills while simultaneously strengthening their mental preparation.

It was an intense, productive, and meaningful weekend, another step in the growth of a group that has demonstrated a desire to test themselves, the ability to adapt, and, above all, the determination to keep improving.

Now, we are ready to kick off our Serie C season: our debut takes place this Friday, October 2nd, at 9:30 PM at the BSC: a city derby against San Gabriele Milano!
